"Podrobnosti" shortlisted for Emmy!

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced yesterday the nominees for the 2009 News and Current Affairs categories.

This is the first time ever that a program from the Ukraine is in Emmy's shortlist. The coverage of South Ossetian war by "Podrobnosti" (Inter TV Channel) is nominated in the News Category.

From the first day of the bloodshed of the South Ossetian War, INTER TV crews cover the conflict from Tskhinvali (Southern Ossetia), Gori war zone (Georgia), Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, and later from Abkhazia. Witnesses, news-specialists, victims, and refugees all tell their stories. This submission is a compilation of INTER TV newscasts' main stories within the first 4 days of the conflict. Winners will be announced at a Ceremony at the Frederick P. Rose Hall at Time Warner Center in New York City on September 21, 2009.

Jornal Nacional - Eloa’s Story, TV Globo, Brazil for independent journalistic investigation of Brazilan police's unprofessional actions that had led to death of two female hostages.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences was found in 1969. It is a membership based organization comprised of leading media and entertainment figures from over 70 countries and 400 companies from all sectors of television. The Academy’s yearly schedule of events includes the prestigious International Emmy Awards Ceremony held in New York. The Emmy Award is regarded as analogue of Oscar Award for Television, gathering submissions from over one hundred countries annually. The awards are presented in fifteen different categories, only 4 -5 participants in the category are shortlisted for the Emmy Awards Ceremony in New York.
