Ceremonial start of second round of Ukraine's Championship Trophy-raid "Ukraine-trophy"

On Saturday, July 2d, the second round of Championship of Ukraine of Trophy-raid "Ukraine-trophy" started on the Independence Square.

Head of Kiev city state administration Alexander Popov, Head of state service of Youth and Sports, vice-president of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Ravyl Safyullyn and President of Association of  Development off-road  kinds of sport, Head of Committee for the Trophy-raid FAU, Sergey Osadchy addressed the competitors at the official part of the ceremony. They all wished luck in exciting competition.

"Mud and off-road, plus some rain and here you have the recipe for happiness for jeep-drivers, - says correspondent Andrew Tsaplyenko. -  Bitumen of Kreschatik is the last quality coating, which drivers see during next week. The start is always a feast, drivers remind of a very friendly family. Soon they all become competitors. After that everyone in here will crave for only one thing – winning". 

Following sport tradition, a symbolic flag of competition was raised at the Maidan square, all the cars - the participants of "Ukraine-trophy" - solemnly passed through the starting arch, set in the middle of Downtown and headed to the first qualifying tournament in Pirogovo.

On Sunday, July 3, at 6 a.m. the participants left Kiev to meet in the final destination - Shack City.

Background:

The track "Ukraine-trophy 2011" is on a route Kiev-Shack. This is the toughest and longest roads in Ukraine, one of the toughest in the CIS. The competition is unique because of the route (1,200 km) and the duration (7 days). The prize fund is 500 000 UAH and the competition will be performed in six categories - from standard four-wheel vehicles to professional off-road vehicles, ATVs, motorcycles. The prize fund will be split between race winners in all categories.
